The Foundation seeks to:
Give priority to interpretive integrative review and synthesis of what
is known in relation to conceptualizations associated with the self-care
deficit theory of nursing, for example, a specific self-care
requisite, bringing together disparate pieces of knowledge that create
a new whole.
- Support a new nursing research initiative within the framework
or related theoretical frameworks of the self-care deficit thory
of nursing and the foundational nursing sciences.
- Support the development of working groups seeking
to advance the theory and produce working papers suitable for publication;
for example, facilitate the formation of groups of young scholars in
establishing networks working toward further development of the theory.
- Encourage writing of nursing textbooks for undergraduate
nursing students based on the self-care deficit nursing theory and its
associated theories.
- Provide seed money for pilot work of those seeking
larger grants or partially support work in cooperation with other funding
agencies, such as the International Orem Society for Nursing Science
and Nursing Scholarship.
